Index CFDs

Trade the price movements of market indices through CFDs.

Access Index CFDs through the Briana Global trading platform and gain exposure to the price movements of selected market indices without purchasing or owning the individual shares that make up those indices.

Index CFDs are leveraged, over-the-counter derivative instruments. They do not provide ownership, voting rights or any other proprietary interest in the underlying securities represented by the relevant index.

What is an Index CFD?

A market index is designed to measure the performance of a defined group of securities according to the methodology of the relevant index provider. An Index CFD allows you to trade changes in the value of an underlying market index without owning the individual securities represented by that index.

When you open an Index CFD position, your profit or loss is determined by the movement in the value of the underlying index between the opening and closing of your position, considering the leverage applied and applicable trading costs.

Access Market Indices Through a Single Platform

Eligible clients can access Index CFDs available through the Briana Global platform, subject to the applicable trading conditions and instrument availability. Information relevant to each instrument is made available through the Platform, including:

  • Contract specifications
  • Trading hours
  • Applicable leverage
  • Margin requirements
  • Indicative spreads
  • Other relevant trading conditions

The products available and their applicable trading conditions may change from time to time depending on market conditions and liquidity.

Leveraged Trading

Index CFDs are traded on a leveraged basis. Leverage allows you to obtain market exposure by committing only a portion of the total notional value of a position as margin. While this can increase potential gains, it also magnifies potential losses. Applicable leverage may vary according to the instrument, market conditions, client classification and applicable requirements. Leverage may also be reduced during periods of increased volatility or reduced liquidity.

How Index CFD Orders Are Executed

Briana Global Limited operates an agency / Straight-Through Processing (STP) execution model. Orders submitted through the Briana Global platform are transmitted to third-party Liquidity Providers for execution. Briana Global acts as agent on behalf of the client and does not act as principal counterparty to Client Transactions.

Services are provided on an execution-only basis, meaning that trading decisions remain solely with the client. Execution remains subject to prevailing market conditions, available liquidity and the pricing available from the relevant Liquidity Provider. The actual execution price may therefore differ from the price requested or displayed when an order is submitted.

Trading Hours

Index CFD trading hours depend on the relevant instrument and the trading hours of the underlying market. Index CFDs are therefore not necessarily available for trading 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Trading availability may also be affected by:

  • Market holidays
  • Underlying exchange closures
  • Reduced liquidity
  • Significant market events
  • Abnormal market conditions

Clients should review the applicable trading hours and contract specifications through the Platform before placing a trade.

Market Volatility & Gapping

Market indices may react quickly to changes in economic, political and financial conditions. Factors affecting an index may include economic data, interest-rate decisions, geopolitical developments, corporate events and changes in overall market sentiment. Markets may also experience gapping, where the price moves directly from one level to another without trading at intermediate prices.

During these conditions, an order including a Stop-Loss Order may be executed at a price different from the level requested.

Spreads & Trading Costs

Trading Index CFDs may involve costs including the applicable:

  • Spread
  • Commission, where applicable
  • Overnight financing
  • Other charges disclosed through the Platform

Spreads and other trading conditions may vary according to the instrument, available liquidity and prevailing market conditions. Clients should review the applicable trading conditions before opening a position.

Overnight Financing

An Index CFD position that remains open beyond the applicable daily cut-off may be subject to overnight financing charges. Applicable rates may vary according to the instrument, prevailing market conditions and the rates received from the relevant Liquidity Providers.

Clients who intend to keep positions open for longer periods should consider the potential impact of financing costs on the overall result of the trade.

Margin Requirements

Clients are responsible for maintaining sufficient margin in their trading account to support open positions. Where the account's margin level falls below the applicable threshold, Briana Global Limited may transmit instructions for some or all open positions to be closed through the relevant Liquidity Provider.

Positions closed under such circumstances may be executed at unfavorable prices, particularly during periods of significant market volatility or reduced liquidity.

Understand the Risks

Index CFDs are complex, leveraged products and involve a significant risk of loss. Before trading Index CFDs, you should understand that:

  • Leverage magnifies both potential gains and losses.
  • Market prices can move rapidly.
  • Spreads may widen during periods of volatility or reduced liquidity.
  • Stop-Loss Orders do not guarantee execution at the requested price.
  • Positions may be closed where applicable margin requirements are no longer maintained.
  • Past performance of an index or market is not a reliable indicator of future performance.

Clients should only trade where they understand how CFDs operate and are able to bear the associated risks.

Risk Warning

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Trading Contracts for Difference (CFDs) and Forex involves a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses that exceed your initial deposit. These products may not be suitable for all investors.
