Client Classification.

Understand how your client classification affects the level of protection applicable to your account. Briana Global Limited classifies each client as either a Retail Client or a Professional Client before trading begins. Retail Clients are classified by default and receive the highest level of protection available under the Terms and Conditions, including enhanced risk disclosures.

Retail Clients Higher level of client protection

Clients are classified as Retail Clients by default unless they satisfy the qualifying criteria for Professional Client status and elect in writing to be treated as such. Retail Clients benefit from the highest level of protection provided under the Terms and Conditions, including:

  • Enhanced risk disclosures
  • Negative Balance Protection, subject to the Terms and Conditions
  • The client-protection measures applicable to Retail Client classification

Retail Clients remain responsible for their own trading decisions and for ensuring that they understand the risks associated with leveraged CFD trading.

Professional Clients Classification for experienced market participants

A client may request classification as a Professional Client where they can demonstrate sufficient experience, knowledge and expertise to make their own investment decisions and properly assess the risks involved. In assessing a request, Briana Global may consider factors such as:

  • The client's trading history and frequency
  • The size and nature of previous transactions
  • Professional experience within the financial services industry
  • The size of the client's financial portfolio

Professional Client status is not automatic. Briana Global may accept or decline a request and may subsequently review or change a client's classification where the applicable criteria are no longer met.

What does Professional Client status mean?

Professional Clients receive a lower level of regulatory protection than Retail Clients, including in relation to certain risk disclosures. The revised Risk Disclosure also states that Professional Clients are presumed, by virtue of their experience, knowledge and expertise, to be capable of assessing the risks of CFD trading without the same degree of protection afforded to Retail Clients.

Negative Balance Protection Retail Client protection

Briana Global extends Negative Balance Protection to Retail Clients as a separate client-protection measure. Where it applies, a Retail Client's aggregate liability is limited to the funds deposited into and credited to the account. Negative Balance Protection is subject to the exclusions in the Terms and Conditions and does not apply in circumstances such as fraud, abusive trading conduct, manipulation of the Platform or breach of the Terms. It also does not apply to Professional Clients unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Requesting Professional Client Status Experienced clients may request reclassification.

A client who believes they meet the relevant criteria may submit a request to be classified as a Professional Client. Any request is subject to Briana Global' assessment and approval. Briana Global may decline the request or subsequently revert a Professional Client to Retail Client status if the relevant qualifying criteria are no longer satisfied.

Risk Warning

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Trading Contracts for Difference (CFDs) and Forex involves a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses that exceed your initial deposit. These products may not be suitable for all investors.
